iPhone 4 Unlock for T-Mobile!

August 4, 2010 10:22 am | POSTED BY sean | 0 comments

Yes you read it right, today a carrier unlock has been released for the iPhone 4. So for those of you with T-Mobile looking to get an iPhone 4, it is officially possible.  Just come on in and we will have your phone unlocked in 15 minutes! Price for a Jailbreak and Unlock is $25.  And yes, you MUST jailbreak your iPhone in order to Unlock it. But don’t worry, Jailbreaking is 100% Legal in the United States. It will void your warranty with Apple, but a quick Restore will erase all evidence of a Jailbreak.

Jailbreak for iPhone 4 is HERE!

August 1, 2010 10:35 pm | POSTED BY sean | 0 comments

Great news to share with everyone on this first day of August. The long anticipated Jailbreak for the iPhone 4 is finally here! And it’s not just for the iPhone 4, this Jailbreak is for ALL iOS devices. Meaning all those people with 4.0 or higher firmwares on their 3GS’s can now be jailbroken and unlocked.

Our Jailbreak price is $15, and our Unlock price is $10.

Unfortunately, there is still no unlock for the iPhone 4. We should hopefully see this within the next couple of weeks.

Did you get your FREE case for iPhone 4?

July 27, 2010 11:08 am | POSTED BY sean | 0 comments

In case you were not aware, Apple has decided to give all iPhone 4 purchasers a FREE case! Or, if you have already purchased a case, they will reimburse you the cost. But I am not sure exactly how that is going to work. What I do know, is that Apple released an App in the App Store that, you can download, you can pick your Free Case!

For iPhone 4 users, search for iPhone 4 Case Program in the App Store. Once you’ve downloaded that App, just follow the instructions. They have 5 different cases to choose from, one being the popular iPhone Bumper. Only thing is, it only comes in black. And don’t expect to see that case any time soon. Processing and shipping times are anywhere from 4 to 5 weeks. It’s still a free case though, so I guess we can’t really complain.

If you purchased a case with your iPhone at an Apple store or an AT&T store, you may have gotten, or be getting, and e-mail with instructions for your reimbursement. But since I did not purchase a case, I am unsure at exactly how they plan on refunding you. I am sure a quick call to your local Apple Store could clarify things up.

Apple Releases Firmware 4.0.1!!!

July 15, 2010 3:20 pm | POSTED BY sean | 0 comments

Today, Apple has released the anticipated Firmware Update 4.0.1.

To anyone without an iPhone 4, this update may seem useless to you, mainly, because it is. This update is supposed to fix the dreaded reception issue iPhone 4 users are having.  As an iPhone 4 user who just updated, to be honest, I don’t see much of a change.  Probably because I wasn’t having any major reception issues to begin with.

For those of you using 3G’s and 3GS’s running on 4.0 or lower that require an unlock, DO NOT UPGRADE! This new Firmware Update raises the baseband for the unlock and with re-lock your phone to AT&T.  If you are an AT&T customer then you may upgrade without a problem, just be aware that you will lose your jailbreak, if you have one.  If you have no idea what a Jailbreak is, then no need to worry.  Although, news of a Jailbreak for 4.0.1 are already starting to surface, so we may not need to wait that long for one.

So once again to be clear…

If you have an iPhone 3G or 3GS, unlocked, running on Firmware 4.o or lower, DO NOT UPGRADE to 4.0.1.

I already know people are going to be calling the store asking for an unlock for 4.0.1. We don’t know when, or if, there will be one.

What’s with all the Water Damage??

July 14, 2010 12:21 pm | POSTED BY sean | 0 comments

We have had a surge of Water Damaged phones coming in all of a sudden.  I’d say about 90% of them are from the POOL! I guess that’s something to be expected with this great summer weather we have been having. Be careful when you are enjoying a day pool side. Keep your phone far away from the pool if possible.  I know it’s hard to part with your iPhone, but leaving it inside or packed in a bag is a lot better then having to pay for a repair.  Don’t be fooled, no cases are waterPROOF! OtterBox Defenders are water resistant, but that doesn’t mean you can take underwater pictures!

uBreakiFix Tampa is also getting a lot of calls about people breaking their iPhone 4 Glass! If you are one of the lucky ones to get your hands on one of these fantastic devices, make sure you get a good protecting case.  Something very hard. These phones tend to flex when they hit the ground, causing the glass to break.  Watch the following video to see what I mean.

High Speed iPhone Drop Test

We are hoping to soon have an entire line of OtterBox cases for the iPhone 4 in our store.  They have been on back order for quite a while, as have all other iPhone 4 accessories.  Just be careful in the meantime, and I will update when we have them in stock!

uBreakiFix Tampa’s First iPhone 4 Repair!

Well so much for “Gorilla Glass, 30 times stronger than plastic.”

Someone came in today with a shattered glass on her brand new iPhone 4. She had it in an ifrogz case, although it didn’t seem to do much. For anyone looking for a case, I would strongly suggest getting and OtterBox Defender.

She said it was sitting on her kitchen counter, when her cat jumped up onto the counter and knocked it off. Not good. Luckily for her we had the parts in stock! We are one of the first iPhone Repair shops ready for iPhone 4 Repairs.

Unfortunately, this shows how easily breakable these phones still are. The repair process is a lot more difficult than the previous 3G and 3GS iPhones. Actually, it is very similar to the 2G.

It took me 40 minutes to complete the repair. Still a little new to it, but with more experience taking them apart the time will go down, hopefully.

The price for a Glass repair for the iPhone 4 is $179.99. Unlike the 3G and 3GS, the iPhone 4’s Glass and LCD are glued together. If one breaks, you have to replace both. The plus side to this is you will no longer have to worry about dust getting in between your Glass and LCD. A problem that many people had with the previous iPhones.

iPhone 4 Parts and Repairs

June 29, 2010 2:12 pm | POSTED BY sean | 0 comments

Hello everyone!

Back again, with another uBreakiFix update.

We have already received calls at multiple locations, of people needing to get their iPhone 4s repaired.  They haven’t even been out one week!  The most common problem, which is no surprise to us, is broken glass.  Thanks to Apple’s great design, which includes glass on the front AND back, people are breaking the glass on both sides of the phone.  Our Repair prices are listed on our website, www.ubreakifix.com.

Starting Thursday afternoon, we will be able to repair your iPhone 4s.  Not soon after that we hope to also have a wide assortment of cases available.  The cost of repairs for the new iPhone are pretty pricey, so it’s better to buy a case now, than have to pay for another glass repair sometime down the line.

We also will continue to provide repair services for all iPhone 3G and 3GS’s.  From glass to water damage, most of our repairs can be done while you wait and under 15 minutes.

For anyone needing a repair on their iPhone 4, please be advised that the 15 minute repair does not apply to you.  With the build structure of the new iPhone, glass repairs will take a bit longer than the previous 3G and 3GS iPhone’s.  Be prepared to go without your iPhone from anywhere to 20-40 minutes.

Couldn’t get an iPhone 4? We have phones for sale!

June 25, 2010 1:09 pm | POSTED BY sean | 0 comments

So if you are like me, you weren’t one of the lucky ones able to get a new iPhone 4 on launch day.  Bummer.  For anyone looking for a phone in the mean time, we have 2 phones for sale.

We have an iPhone 3G 8GB for sale for $200, Jailbroken and Unlocked on iOS4 for T-mobile.  I also have an iPhone 3G 16GB for sale for $250, Jailbroken and Unlocked on iOS4 for T-mobile.

Now you might be asking yourself, why so much?  Understandable.  You can get a new iPhone 4 16GB for $199!  However, you are locked into a contract for 2 years with that price.  Prices for the new iPhone 4 without a contract are $599 and $699.  For people on T-Mobile, those aren’t even available to you for purchase!  Only current AT&T users are able to purchase iphones without extending their contract.  That’s why these are such a great deal.  No AT&T contracts required and you get all the same benefits of owning an iPhone, minus the 3G network.  You can still use the phone for phone calls and internet, but it must use the EDGE network  or WiFi.
